MOE Teaching Award
these 2 days have been busy with MOE Teaching Award thing
Yesterday:went down to MOE HQ at buona vista in the afternoon for interview.. my first official interview for my life i think.. 4 interviewers.. den i keep getting SHOTs by one man whom i say his name tag saying sth abt "Psychometric" thing one.. he is the one who acts as the "black face man".. which most of us shld encounter for every interview or oral.. the first time i get shot goes this way..
Interviewer: read any of the 四大名著 (i.e. 《红楼梦》，《三国演义》，《西游记》，《水浒传》）Me: i didnt.. but i intended to do so..Interviewer: why didnt u read any?Me: when i was in pri sch, i was too young to think of reading this literature works. When i was in secondary school, my friends around me do not have such great passion towards this work too.. it is until JC when i start to learn literature then i have the thought of reading it..Interviewer: i thought u mentioned that ur secondary school, nanhua sec/high sch, has given u much exposure towards chinese? (because i mentioned abt it in the earlier part of the interview)
Me:
yes the school did give me alot of exposure towards chinese language and culture, but not towards literature.. at least in my year, we do not have chinese literature as one of our subject choices and i think it is a waste to me as i am only able to get in touch with chinese literature in JC..phew* it comes to an end
but it isnt the end!!!!!!!!!! this interview i am required to use both english and mandarin to answer! i'm in the interview for around 20+mins.. there is around 10 minutes when i am questioned by a chinese lady.. she is nice.. but her qns require much thinkings too.. and i got shoot by the male interviewer again towards the end of the interview
Female interviewer: 中国和台湾都是以中文为母语/主语。如果你有机会到中国或台湾深造，你有否信心能够超越这些学生？Me: 我有Female interviewer: 你怎么那么确定？Me: 我认为我的华文基础不错。Male interviewer: 你怎么知道你的基础不错？Me: 我能够以标准的华语沟通，我能够写出好的文章，无论是记叙文或议论文，我都能写得不错Male interviewer: 你怎么知道你的文章写得不错？Me: *stunned for few seconds* *回过神* 老师对我的作文评价不错。老师也曾经选出我的作文在课堂上分享，编辑入文集内。我也是中文出版学会的编辑组组长。既然老师让我胜任这个职位，想必他们也对我的文笔有不错的认可和肯定。omg.. i'm really stunned! cuz the male interviewer really shoot me back lah.. so scary... but i try to be as confident as i can.. i dunno what i've said is totally true or not.. but i really tried my best to show them the confident me... oh my oh my............
Today：I receive call from MOE early in the morning.. the person ask me if i receive any offers from NTU.. i say yes.. but i have already accepted FASS.. den the person ask me to call NTU to ask if is there any ways for me to get their offer again.. with ???? in my head.. i called to ask.. i only have to write in an email.. so the MOE person ask me to write in an email immediately!! den i was like "HUH???? i dont want to go NTU's chinese! i prefer FASS?!! does it matter where do i go??? and does it affect my application for award???".. den the person was saying since that i am not keen of getting NTU's chinese.. they will not force me and the office is now discussing abt what to do.. but the thing is that i am not NOT KEEN to get into NTU's chinese.. i'm fine with it.. but i prefer NUS FASS!!! i see better recognition and future through FASS.. ya i'm tempted by NTU's 4 years direct Honours course.. but i can also get it if i go FASS with an award since the award criteria requires me to maintain my CAPS at at least 3.5!! and furthermore.. FASS separates chinese studiest (literature) and chinese language.. and i am sure that i can do much better with chinese language!!!! tt's why i'm discouraged by NTU's joint programme
PRAY HARD........... i hope that they can give me the award and let me go FASS!!!!!! if not.. i really dunno what to do??? 2 options if they do not........
1) Take the award, go to NTU's Chinese.2) Give up on the award, go to NUS's FASS..OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how how how....????
hmmmm but my dad was saying.. i shld also be happy that they actually considered me for the award so soon after ytd's interview.. this means that i've passed that interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least sth to be happier about........ =) wahhahaha
